EDI.I Statement:
The Electron Microscopy Laboratory is located on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territory of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam) people. We encourage members of our community to familiarize themselves with the relationship and history of Musqueam & UBC, and recommend the Indigenous engagement portal as a starting point for this journey.
The Electron Microscopy Laboratory at UBC is committed to providing a respectful, safe, and accessible research environment that upholds equity, diversity, inclusion, and human rights for all users, staff, and visitors. Research Security:
- Facilities recently funded by the CFI, which include the TESCAN MIRA, TESCAN TENSOR, TESCAN AMBER-2, and the Thermo Fisher Nexsca G2 require users to follow UBC’s research security policy and guidelines – full details can be found on this website: https://researchsecurity.ubc.ca/canadian-research-security-policies-guidelines.
- At a minimum, users of these instruments need to complete the “Introduction to Research Security Course“.
Authorship:
Use of the facility requires users to follow our authorship policy in full.

Working alone:
- If working alone after hours or during a weekend or public/statutory holiday, you must comply with the Working Alone or in Isolation instructions, and use the WorkAlone feature available via the UBC Safe Vancouver app.
Booking Rules:
Instrument specific booking rules can be found on the Canvas site. Users will be expected to agree to the booking rules when they are signed off for independent instrument use.
Fault Reporting:
Users must complete this Qualtrics form for any issues that arise when using the Equipment. It can also be useful to discuss the issue with the relevant member of the facility team associated with the equipment. Often you can find the person in person, or you could drop them a message via teams .
